Update 1.0.1.3: Playable Human Faction

Update & Additions:
  • Added a connection status screen
  • New title screen with flaming Thrones
  • Added Faction selection option
  • Human outpost is now playable
  • Factions now have their own Terrain & Tree skins
  • Camera now rotates in 60° increments (previously 90°)

Bug Fixes: 
  • None


Known Bugs:
  • OrcWorker Menu: Repair Button does not work  
  • Stopping the worker while he is in the middle of harvesting will cause unexpected behavior               
  • Fading of objects between camera and selected object is limited to trees

Update 1.0.1.2: Mining Gold & Various Misc Updates

Update & Additions:
  • Added Mission 'Gold Rush' & 'Beneath The Surface'
  • Mission 'Raising The Roof' can now be completed
  • Building Construction scripts and UI
  • Added FPS label below map
  • Added a status message box for notifications and error messages
  • Added music
  • 'Gold Mine' now has a pre-restoration state as default
  • Added 'Ruins' to the title of buildings that need restoring
  • Game now continues to run in the background when web page doesn't have focus

Bug Fixes: 
  • Fixed a navigation/waypoint bug that prevented movement in some areas

Update & Additions:
  • Updates & Bugs Window added
  • Camera Controls Window added
  • Input Controls: dragging the terrain will now pan the camera (touch compatible)
  • Orc Worker is now provided as a reward for accepting the mission 'Prepare To Harvest'
  • Mission Accept & Completion windows updated with rewards information

Bug Fixes: 
  • Fixed a bug where the Factory was being referred to as the Lumberjack in the Building Info Window
  • Fixed a guest login error
  • Orc Worker Menu: Stop, Move & Harvest buttons now work properly


Known Bugs:

Update 1.0.0.2: New Play Area & Server

New Play Area & Server





Update & Additions:
  • Unity Terrain replaced with Hexagon Mesh
  • Migration to SmartFox Server
  • Resources animation added when game starts
  • Mission 'Chop! Chop! Chop!' now required 15 lumber
  • Worker's maximum lumber carrying capacity decreased from 5 to 3
  • More Stone resource deposits have been added.

Bug Fixes: 
  • Clicking a GUI element now prevents clicking-through to the play area
  • Worker Menu now hides when the worker is not selected
  • Worker now carries a (untextured) hammer as default.  The worker automatically switches to the axe when gathering lumber.


Known Bugs:
  • Menu buttons (lower-right of screen) may or may not work properly

  • Clicking a GUI element does not prevent clicking-through to the play area

  • After gathering & returning 10 lumber, the Orc Worker may disappear when attempting to harvest again
  • The game currently ends when you finish gathering lumber

Battle Thrones: My MMO/RTS Hybrid Game

The Unity3d prototype that I've been working on in my free time now has an official name and website.  Battle Thrones (battlethrones.com) will eventually be a fully functional MMO/RTS hybrid.  The concept is to take existing elements of RTS games and to broaden them to an MMO scale.  Players will each get a 'home' outpost that can never be attacked.  From this base they will engage in a constant battle with the opposing faction over 'neutral' outposts, which will provide bonus resources which they can use to improve outposts and/or their home base.

I've made quite a bit of progress on this game thus far, and if you'd like to read the dev blog up to this post, you can find it at eatsleepindie.blogspot.com.  With a name I can market, a website in place, and piles of code I've already written (both for this project and previous prototypes), I expect that progress on Battle Thrones will come pretty swiftly.  I am hoping to have a Unity3D Web Player version available on the website soon, and will update it periodically to showcase the latest updates.
